Virgin London Marathon, London, UK
Since 2015 the Virgin London Marathon have adopted CAERvest® where it has been used to save lives in the treatment of heatstroke. The product is now routinely held and deployed by doctors in the intensive treatment tents. Several case histories collected from usage were published in the Scandinavian Journal of Medicine & Science in Sports in 2016 and these can be viewed here.
Korey Stringer Study, University of Connecticut, USA
CAERvest® completed pre-clinical volunteer trials with the Korey Stringer Institute (KSI) at the University of Connecticut in early 2016. The aim of the study was to prove the device’s effectiveness in treating overheated patients when compared to other, pre-prepared cooling modalities. We are pleased to announce that the findings demonstrate the value of CAERvest® in emergency situations. Please enquire if you would like to see the abstract, original poster presentation or raw data.
SESAME Study, Brighton University, UK
Pre-clinical volunteer trials were conducted with the Sport and Exercise Science and Medicine (SESAME) department at Brighton University in 2014 with the aim of demonstrating the safety and efficacy of the device in delivering core body cooling. The results have demonstrated that the device is capable of significantly reducing core body temperature in healthy adults without causing any harm. The findings were published in the Journal of Occupational Safety and Ergonomics (JOSE) and can be accessed here. Those interested in understanding more about the study can get in contact via the contact us page.
